Only Ours

Our ancestors

Pictured a world for us

Where harmony ruled

So, taught us to be united.

And we did learn to stay one:

To shatter one’s dream under our feet.

To achieve what we yearned for.

They asked us to believe in sympathy:

So we confiscated sympathy to catch some moments pregnant with long-awaited yet fleeting attention.

They made us overlook the phantom of the past:

Therefore we forged a new identity by ripping out our past.

They instructed us to applaud the strengths of others :

Hence we cherished cunningness and treachery

They advised us to sustain our inner beauty:

Thus we prisoned it in our hearts and threw away the key.

They asked us to heal others with our smiles:

So we laughed when others cried.

They believed in us, just as their forefathers had faith in them

For a better future, Fashioned by our hands:

And we have fashioned a solid future

That is merely ours

Standing on the foundations of self-love

Covered and guarded by our selfishness

And

Is only OURS!

This is a picture of a man holding a ball that is showing reflection of the station that was only ours some time ago.
